Miriam Morshuis has been with BexerHamstra since September 2020. Before, she worked with Korn Ferry and Hewitt Associates. Between them she has about eighteen years of experience as a pensions consultant and in change management. Miriam studied Applied Mathematics at the University of Twente in the Netherlands, and is a registered actuary.

‘What I like best: helping clients with their pensions and other benefits, subjects that many people find very difficult. I like the technical stuff too, the complex calculations. I didn’t study applied maths for nothing! I’m happiest when things get complicated. But the greatest thrill is to be able to transfer that knowledge and know-how and get clients to commit tot changes – from CFOs at the top, via HR managers and all the way to the works council and individual employees.

I support change processes, for instance when a contract with a pension administrator expires or if the pension scheme no longer fits the organization. It also happens that over the years (caused by mergers and acquisitions, for example) reward differences have grown that the employer would like to harmonize. Then I sit down with the client and we talk it over: where are you now, where do you want to be, and how can you get there?

The big change in the next few years will of course be the Pension reforms. One interesting aspect of it is how to compensate employees for the change to age-independent premiums. A transition like that stirs up a lot of commotion, and I’m looking forward to it.’
